Subject: Frabill Musky Nets?

Hi. I am going to get a new muskie net. I have been looking at the regular Frabill Power catch net that cost 70 bucks and the Frabill Blockbuster Musky Net that costs also 70 bucks. Which one is better the regular power catch net that has a 60 inch net depth and the tangle free net material or the Blockbuster musky net that has a 42 in net depth and a tangle free net material? Also which one does less damage on the fish? Those are the only two that i am picking from. Thanks for the information!!!

Check out the latest auction for Ashton. I have donated a Frabill net. If your buying why not buy this one? For $70.00 I will sell it to you and donate the proceeds to the fund.

I use the Power Catch net, and feel it is the best they make for my purposes. I like the deep bag for working on releases, too.

I too use a "Power Catch" net and it is by far the best net I have ever used. You won't go wrong to chose one, I guarantee.

I use both a power catch series and a Kwik-Kradle.
I don't think you'll be disapointed if you choose the power catch.

Should i go with the 48 inch net depth or the 64 inch net depth? Will this net rough up the fish? Thanks!!!

I use the deep one, and like it. The net is coated, and is very easy on the fish.

Steve, what one do you use exactly the the depth and what model. It sounds like the one I was plan on getting here pretty soon. How much is that one your talking?

I too use the deep coated net and concur that it's very easy on the fish. If I remember correctly, I paid about $120 to $130 for it and it's been worth every penny.

I aslo use the Power catch net. Go with the deepest net you can get, and you won't regret it. There is nothing worse than trying to fit a 45-50" musky into a tiny net. If you can upgrade a bit to the net Musky Mike is talking about beacuase the bigger one is a lot better. Make sure you get the one that is coated. It protects the fishes fins, tail, and slime enormously. Try not to chince on the net. I know as a 49" fish broke through mine last year!!

With two real good muskie net companys out there being Beckman and Frabil you cant go wrong. Both companys have did a great job to build nets to protect the fish.

I use Beckmans, but I have used Frabil's in friends boats and found them to be really nice and just as safe on the fish as my net.

The only problem with Worrall's frabil net is that is does not like to get wet when him and I fish together. LOL[]

The VP of Frabill Nets told me that the Blockbuster Musky Net has a tanglefree and knotless material so it is very safe on the fish. The power catch that i am looking at in Rollie and Helens musky shop book is model 3358 but it only has the coated tangle free material. So i am thinking the Blockbuster net would be safer on the fish. But it only has a 42 inch net depth. Would a fish of 50 inch size fit in a net that is 42 inches deep? Would it be good for keeping the net in the water when getting the hooks out? Thanks!!!

Sure mathematically a 42" net is plenty to fit a 50" musky in, if she decides to cooperate! Remember that the fish is now longer than your depth, so the fish would have to bend up the sides of the net to fit. Now if that fish starts thrashing who knows what is going to happen. I just wouldn't take the chances with a smaller net for a fish of a lifetime.
