Hi. I will be taking a vaction to myrtle beach this summer. I wont be driving so i decided to get some muskie books. What are some good books to get? I am thinking about getting Muskies Suck by Pete Maina. Is that book any good? I have already bought one book Joe Buchers Crankbait Secrets for the trip and i need some more. Its a long trip down there. Thanks for the information!!!

"Muskies suck" is pretty funny and easy reading. Try "Muskies on the Shield" as well. Especially if you fish Canada it is very informative.

All of Rizzo's books are well worth the read.
The Muskie Almanacs are also good reading.

The best musky book of all time (no pun intended) is "Time on the Water". It is no longer sold, but maybe you could find it at a library. I just read it this winter. I loved it.

Dick Pearson's new book is really good if you fish LOTW, and it's OK even if you don't. I don't remember the title of his book though.

"MUSKIES ON THE SHEILD" by Dick Pearson..... In my humble opinion it is the GREATEST muskie book ever written on canadian sheild muskie fishing. I might even go as far as to say it is the over all best.

How far is the drive...I'm six hrs from there...ever been there before...are you staying on the strip or north? Sorry for all the ?s; haven't been there in 25 yrs. but a lot of peeps from here go down + there is definitely a lot to do there. The beach at North Myrtle used to be the least developed, had better waves + more open sand. Plenty of seafood places + Springmaid Pier is south of the crowds. There should be some bluefish to play w/ + tons of stuff to do for kids if you have any!

Take a look at www.fishinghotspots.com. They have three great muskie books out. Pete Maina's new book, "Muskies-Maina Style," Russ Warye's latest, "Muskie-The Premier Waters of North America" and the best-selling "Wisconsin's Top Muskie Lakes."

I would also get the latest copies of Musky Hunter, Esox Angler, and Midwest Outdoors. They are always great reads during long trips! I've got all mine in a binder and re-read them all the time.

Hope this helps,

Anon:
Pearsons book, although targeted for the Shield lakes, is worth getting anyway. There is alot of info you can use anywhere.
