Bucher once wrote in MH an article about guiding. One thing that has stuck with me through the time since I read it referred to a question he was often asked by clients, "Can you guarantee me a fish today". His reply was something to the affect of, "I can guarantee I put you over fish, but can you guarantee me that you can catch them?"

Fishing is fishing, it's not catching, cliche` as it sounds. If you plan on tipping a guide and he works hard for you, don't rule it out based on your lack of success that day.

any one thats ask a guide that it is NOT a musky angler cause we who fish for them have missed, lost or @#$ed it up at some point. we KNOW thats just musky fishing. i went on a 3 day trip the first week of sept. and got my first 50". we were guided by jerry sondag and he was just a fun guy to fish with and we tipped him $90 cause we had a good time not cause of the fish we caught.
