Posts: 94 | There have been some speculations lately about a possible new world record pike, allegedly measuring in at 61 inches and weighing 63 lbs 14 oz, caught in Poland. What do you guys think? Have you heard about this one before? Does the picture and alleged size seem authentic? http://www.gofishing.co.uk/Angling-Times/Section/News--Catches/Gene... Posts: 484 Location: St. Louis, MO., Marco Is., FL, Nestor Falls, ON | That link mentioned a 51 lb. pike caught out of Lake Maggiore, captor unknown. The fisherman was a friend of mine, Carlo Aimonetti, from Italy who fished with me on LOTW a few years ago. He sent me pictures of two Northern he caught between March and May 2007. One was over 53 lbs. The other over 51 lbs. I put Pete Maina in contact with him and Esox Angler. I thought they were going to do a story about him. I believe they did run the pictures. I don't think anyone will discount the size or weight when they see the pictures. That Polish fish is very large. I don't know that it is that much larger than the two that Carlo caught. But could be.

Posts: 656 Location: Forest Lake, Mn. | Where is Lake Maggiore? I assume it's in Europe somewhere. What a pig! That's bigger than a lot of muskies. Edited by fishpoop 9/15/2009 11:33 PM

Location: MN | I just want to let everyone know that a few nights ago I caught a 66" x 35" musky here in the metro out of Bass Lake. There is a bigger musky on the same spot I know I can catch..... i'll put her around 70" Sorry, no pictures. All of those pike are awesome! Interesting that there are so many larger than life pike caught out of Europe. Edited by Mak51 9/17/2009 11:28 PM

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | They are all old WWII Nazi GMO experiments gone bad. They were never supposed to be released into the wild but they got out..... I don't think they should qualify for any type of world record due to the suspected past of their genetics

Posts: 484 Location: St. Louis, MO., Marco Is., FL, Nestor Falls, ON | That's right. It''s in the Lake district. It is the 2nd largest of three lakes in the region. I just returned from Lake Maggiore night before last. What a beautiful area. Incredible that such large fish thrive in an area of tourists, castles and numerous picturesque towns. If only I could have spent some time fishing, but we were on a tour. Two days there was definitely not enough. Attachments ---------------- DSC00966.jpg (240KB - 281 downloads)
