Weekend reports are calling for steady rain on Saturday. Last trip with this kind of weather we couldn't get anything to move. We fished the typical spots, weed edges, on the flats, mid lake humps when we could find them.

Is there somthing I'm missing on day's like this? We use mostly spinnerbaits & bucktails mixed in with topwater from time to time, but I'm open provided it improves our chances. What would the pro's do??

Any suggestions?
Heading to Tomahawk/Rhinelander area again on Friday.

Thanks,
Mike

if it's not a downpour the first thing I throw is a plop plop topwater like a Chopper.... topwaters in the rain rock.

I agree, there's something about it that both appeals to the fish and the fisherman. . . Or just Brad and I?

I've heard that the fish go deeper in the rain- so they don't get wet!!

Get the heck off the water and hit up the nearest local establishment. You might get wet!

never done well in the steady pours, other than at the tavy,
but I will say, if you get those days where the rain is in and out all day,
those periods right when the rain calms, and then is starting again seem to be dynomite!
can honestly say Ive not done well with steady rain casting, but trolling I have.
SNOW on the other hand but thats just really cold rain right??? hehe
Ive had other fish go crazy in steady downpours before, perch n walleyes,
but the skis, hmmmm
im still lacking in prefecting that. results I have had include mag dawgs n depthraiders, so im stating that my action has been on the deeper side, er. yeah.
looks like the weekend isnt gonna be as bad as predicted earlier, im thinking fishing will be down-right outstanding!

I've done well in downpours with a purple/gold Cowgirl.

Fishing in the rain is usually productive in my experience.

Caught my biggest in a downpour. It's funny that you really don't notice the rain or cold when your catching fish. It's only when your out there getting skunked that you tend to feel the elements more or weather seems to bother you into thinking that it's the reason for no fish. Put a couple in the net and all that disappears.....

A hard steady rain is no good in my experience.  I will be sitting in my truck waiting it out or leaving.

Rain usually means a low front and low light. I could think lf a lot worse conditions to fish in. There's a big difference between getting rained on all day in July vs November though. Oh yah, nice one Hammskie!

Rainy days I head for clear water. The lures are dependent on the water and time of year. Early, rocks, mid day, weeds, evening back to the stones. Have had a few spectacular days in heavy rain, and some really poor ones as well. If the rain is in advance of the front, I do well. After the front is past but before the pressure begins to rise have been tough for me. Once the wind begins to shift and the barometer begins to climb, there can be some really productive windows open up.
