This is for you sonar specialist. First let me say my unit seems to be working fine and all tests passed. The unit is a older one (wide 3d Paramount). Why does this thing seem to not mark my Bondy Bait? Even right below the transducer in clear water it wouldnt give me a mark. ???
On my buddies boat with a Lowrance I could see exactly where the bait was bouncing around.

This may be a stupid answer but did you check to make sure the transducer was angled parallel to the bottom so it's sending a direct beam down? I had the same issue a while back with depth readings that we're off by 2-4 feet. This was the culprit.

Best of luck. It sucks when electronics don't work properly.

Same problem with mine, until I pulled the jig off to the side about 8" from where I thought it should be. Turned out what looked like dead straight wasn't exactly as straight as I thought. Try going 360 degrees around the ducer and you may find its pointing a little off.
