I just traded in my Jeep Grand Cherokee V-8, and I was wondering if my new rig would be capable of pulling my boat. It's a 2002 Chevrolet 3/4 ton HD Crew Cab Duramax Diesel w/ Allison 5 speed transmission.[] Yes, I'm being facetious. I'm actually really looking forward to pulling my boat around with it, because I've been pulling a 31' Fleetwood travel trailer with it and I can hardly tell it's there, even going up hills![:0] I just better not forget I'm pulling the boat. Love it so far (450 miles) but only got it to pull the camper the wife wanted. Personally, I'd have rather been pulling a Ranger 620 or Esox Deep V behind my old Jeep, in the grand scheme of things. Oh well, maybe in 2007.[:knockout:]

No, it's not quite adequate for your needs. I would recommend a Kia.[;)]

No way Mungo...I can't believe you got that new ride because the wife wanted you too![;)] Dude across the road from me flew down to Fl. this past yr + got one of those humongo travel trailers...found it on the net + had to have it...it's like a small home! Get your wife a truck so you can both camper + boat wherever you go. [:sun:]

Don't laught too hard there Sponge-O, cuz that's exactly what I did...Have a 3/4 ton GMC 4x4 to pull the boat and a Chevy 1-Ton 4x4 dually to pull our 5th Wheel camper. When "Aussie Gal" and me take to the road, we do'er in style taking most of the comforts of home along. The only down side is when we hit the final destination, the folks there think the circus has come to town....[;)] [:sun:] [8)] []

C, is your travel trailer a 5th wheel type? If so, I've seen lots of them pulling the boat behind it. Not sure of the length restriction, though.

Just a thought.

Tight lines,

Sponge: Honest. Ask anyone who knows me how cheap I am. [] Obviously I had to have some input once the decision was made that we were gonna do it, but... Gonna put a tranny cooler on the minivan so she can follow with the boat. Can't go camping wihtout the boat, ya know.

Shep: It's a standard pull behind. For some reason max of 68 feet sticks in my mind for MN. I know SD is something like 76 feet total length. The guy @ Brambilla's told me that a 26' 5th wheel was the longest I'd be able to legally pull the boat behind in addition, but the 25'er we looked at didn't have the floorplan the wife wanted. Pretty happy with this one, ahd a great time with it this weekend. we just got back from camping up by Waubun, MN. Nice place, but not a muskie lake. My brother came up and brought my boat, so we got some bass and pike fishing in.

I did get to see a heron take a 20" pike. That was a sight to behold. Got to see it start to finish. I thought there was no way he'd be able to swallow it, but after spearing it with its beak about 5 times over the course of 10 minutes, it turned it headfirst and swallowed it. [:0] I gotta think that it wasn't gonna be flying anywhere for a while, though. [] Not until it could offload some excess baggage, if you know what I mean.
