Location: So. Illinois | I want to add a bow safety chain to my trailer as a safety device in case my bow winch strap were to ever break. Anyone got a picture they could post to show how they are rigged?

Don't have an actual picture, but all you would need is a length of chain (probably no more than 18"), a heavy duty "S" hook that is slightly smaller in diameter than the chain, a bolt, couple of washers (big flat one and one locking) and a nylon lock-nut.
On one end of the chain, take the S-hook and place it through the last link. In a vice, bend the section of S-hook closed.
Next, attach the length of chain to the winch post....you may even be able to just replace one of the winch post bolts with a longer one, which would save drilling, etc.
That is about all there is to the safety chain for the boat....not much to it, and with about 15 minutes of your time, you'll be all done.
