2004/V-max 200HP with 550hrs. seems to be smoking a bit more lately.
It still runs great (68MPH) and I haven't changed the plugs since last Fall.
It only smokes when cold.............Is there a problem ?
Thanks, Jerome

Unless it's billowing out or getting excessive, chalk it up to being a two stroke. That's my take at least, which is far from scientific or carrying any weight.

I think Steve Worrall hit the nail on the head. The colder temps will mean more vapor in the exhaust...
I would also ask what oil you are running...I would assume full synthetic, but if it is not, you might find a bit less smoke going that route. Not sure if the V-max series takes the same oil as a normal 2 stroke, but I believe amsoil makes a higher performance oil above their HP injector oil. The HP injector oil is really light on the smoke...burns really clean all the time, even trolling.
just something to think about....

I run Yamaha lube 70% of the time, otherwise its Amsoil.
Not filing plugs, just a bit more smoke than normal.....Worrall may have hit the nail on the head............Can he see that good at his age ? LOL.....
