I think I seen a previos post on this, but couldn't find it. I have a couple rods that I think the handles are too short. I like the butt go all the way past my arm pit, anyways how hard is it to extend a handle maybe 3 inches or so?

I just had Thorne Bros do 1 for me, cost was about $12-$15. Made a huge difference.

They stripped out the old handle, extended the blank and put on a new handle for 12-15 dollars?

I make all of my rods with longer handles and have for years. Love them. Liked them so much I have 6 lines of rods about to come out. All with long handle extensions for them right off the bat so you don't have to spend the money to modify them along with the extra thick cork (1.30" diameter). For my current rods I had Thorne Bros do I have 18" handles and like them. I am 5'10" but a friend of mine uses the same length handle and is over 6'. Mine go about 2" beyond my back and for him they are about even with his back when under his arm. Good way to test is to get a broom handle and hold it like your rod and have someone mark it at your back. Then hold it next to your rod and measure how long you need it to be comfortable. Then add another inch for fun if your storage allows for it.

Thorne Bros did mine as well - great job, can't tell the new cork from the old. Besides length, you will also have a few choices on how you want ot finish the but of your handle.

NO one piece handle, I took off the cork added a piece of tube OVER the butt tube and slid on the eva mooseskin foam handles, takes about 2-3 hours to do.

Just did one of mine myself. I was at St. Croix a couple of weeks ago to see if they could do it, but I was there on a Saturday and no one could tell me. They ended up selling me a section of blank for $10 and giving me a piece of cork.

First I cut off about 1.5" of the existing butt. Then I cut a part of the blank to slide into the existing blank. They told me to use gorrilla glue to put it together and that is what I used. Third step was to cut the new cork to length and glue it on. I followed that with grinding and sanding the cork to match the current one. Turned out better than I thought.
I would not be afraid of doing it again.
