How did you guys do over the weekend? Was up in Vilas and really had a hard time with the cold weather - seeing only three fish and catching none. Wondering how others faired?

Posts: 283 | Went out friday for 2 hrs got a 40 and a 36. Saturday went out from 6 to 830 had a follow and missed one on a topwater bait. Today went out from 6 to 11 had one miss on a weagle, another follow and a very nice fish on high 40 to 50in fish all the way up to the boat and at the last second it threw the bulldawg. Still sick to my stomach about that fish and all of the missed oppurtunities I have been having lately. But all in all two fish in 2hrs was nice and to get to see a fish like that was alright too. Who am I kidding losing that fish sucked! Below is the 40 Edited by brewcrew 8/23/2009 9:13 PM Attachments ---------------- 100_0024 [].JPG (113KB - 101 downloads)

Posts: 1287 Location: WI | Came home early from my Hayward vacation. The weather and fishing just weren't working for me..or maybe it was my dad's cannonball casting technique. Hit a small lake sat night and had a 40" follow a creeper near the boat launch..ha! Hit another lake this morning and had one strike and later on got a 32" on a Pacemaker. I should be doing better this month, but it's been fun most of the time.

Location: The Yahara Chain | I took my girls out for three hours on Saturday. It took me six years to convince my oldest to go fishing again. She was quit the pan fisherman when she was younger. My youngest was helping drive the boat as we were trolling on Waubesa. She offered advice to her big sister as Sierra was reeling in her first musky, a scrappy 37. Posts: 103 | My friend and I fished for 10 hours on Saturday. The first 3 hours of fishing we never saw a thing. Then in the next 30 minnutes my friend raised a low 40 incher and I had 2 fish hit and miss cowgirls. We then went 3 more hours without seeing any fish. Then between 12:30 pm and 1:00 pm I caught a 29 incher on a cowgirl and a fat 49 incher on a crankbait. Never saw another fish after that. It's not only you! I've been fishing other species quite a while. Been fishing muskies hard for 4 years now. I would kill to catch the fish he has been catching! Posts: 103 | Thanks Guys! I have fished a lot this year. I think if other people would put in as many hours as I have this year they would have the same results.

Posts: 742 Location: Grand Rapids MN | Fished Vermilion this weekend. Got out late Friday night and landed a chunky 44" within the first half hour. Fished the rest of the night until 7am. Damp air, windy, and around 40 degree temps left us wearing every article of clothing in the boat possible. It is August, right?!? Saturday it was dead calm and sunny. Didn't move a thing. Wasn't until dark again when a fish blew up boat side but didn't get all of the lure. Sunday wind picked up and so did the fish activity. Moved 12 fish with many being big to very big fish but nothing would go. We called it quits at noon and never got a chance to go back on these fish. No need to block out the background since all the fish for me and my partners seem to be coming at night this year. Good luck to everyone still out hittin' it on V! Posts: 299 Location: Nowheresville, MN | Fishing was tough here as well. 9 contacts in 4 days. But when the NW wind howls the big girls are on the prowl. Speed showed most of the fish for us in just about every kind of structure. Two in the net at 50 and 51.25. Posts: 620 Location: Seymour, WI | I fished the WI Musky Alliance Tourney in Eagle River. We spent all our time fishing N and S Twin lakes in Phelps. This was my third musky trip to Vilas this summer and on all three trips have had strong storms, very cold weather and strong N winds. We had most of our fish action in the early morning before 8 am. I moved 5 different muskies all on surface baits and caught a 35" Fri morning. The fish jumped at least five times so even thought it was a small musky, it had me excited. My boat partner moved three different muskies all on jerkbaits including one on Sat afternoon that was upper 40's. That fish had us really pumped up, but we could not get her to go. I really enjoy being in this event and listening to all the winners tell their stories. Even though fishing was tough, lots of nice muskies were caught including a 49, 48, and the second place winner boating three fish over 40. Looking forward to fishing in it again next yr. Attached is a pic of of my musky caught on a Topwalker in the wind and rain early Fri morning. Grass, Attachments ---------------- S. Twin 2009 Alliance TourneyA.JPG (206KB - 88 downloads)

Posts: 402 Location: Eagle River, WI | My daughter had a big 1st birthday bash on Sat. all kinds of family came over so no fishing this weekend. I did go out on Monday and doubled up in about 15 minutes. I think it was payback for not being able to fish all weekend.
