Location: Glenmoore PA | Has anybody thrown smaller lures with a sling blade, how does it handle? Im thinking like the smaller mepps bucktails, or small crank baits like a 6" jake for example. |

Location: Oshkosh | I agree with Brad, I find myself using my sling blade in a lot of situations where I use to use my medium heavy rod.

Location: Aurora, IL. | Can the sling blade throw the baits yes. Kind of depends on the reel as well.
I think the perfect rod from St. Croix for that application is the Top-N-Tail #TM80MHF.
Good luck!

| Ya the rod works fine for smaller stuff.
I have every legend tournament made but since the release of the sling blade i have found that blank to be super versatile.
I am now down to three rods in the boat that comfortably handle the majority of what i throw.
I run the big dawg for all my plastics and large swim bait needs.
One sling blade with a trinidad 14 dedicated to big, heavy pulling blades of all types.
And one sling blade with a callcutta 400te for just about everything else.
On days where i might throw alot of jerk baits, especially gliders i may also throw the 7-6 jerk in the mix with a curado 300dsv.I just cant seem to get comfortable using the 8-6 for jerks and gliders but to be honest i only seem to throw jerks and gliders in the fall when the water temps drop.
I dont even use my other rods at all any more.I think the sling blade is about the most versatile muskie rod st.croix has made to date.
Aside from super big plastic it will cover all your needs. |

Location: Oswego, IL | Agree above, but do not like the slingblade for pulling large tails, actually the only negative is only in the 8 or 0's at boat side the tip a bit to light for my liking. Love those Tourneys though! _ I use my big dawg for big blades, swimbaits, and rubber. Everything else I use the slingblade on. |
