I am using powerpro and stealth braid. Yesterday someone recommended "Vicious" line at 80# or 100#.. anyone using this line? supposedly it doesn't have the wax like power pro has. Just trying to find out if any one tried it yet. Does it soak up alot of water?

I saw the line at ICAST, it looked pretty good. Seems like I've seen the logo alot over the last couple months, too.

I have Vicious on two of my reels. I bought it at the Milwaukee show this past winter. The salesman told me it wouldn't lose its color like power pro does but that's untrue because I haven't used mine that much and its already discolored. It doesn't seem to hold much water though, which will be nice this fall. The diameter of the line seems a little bigger than other brands.

I know it isn't the same but I have been pounding Vicious flourocarbon for bass all summer and it has been flawless.

I have been using it in 80 and 100 pound for musky and I have 40lb on my froggin rod for largemouth. So far I love the line. It seems to be a little larger in dia. then other brands. It casts smooth and its not real loud on the line guides. I didn't notice any more water soaking into the line but I have noticed that I don't have to rip my reels apart after I put the new line on to clean green stuff out. It does fade out a little like all the other lines but not as bad as some of the other brands that I have tried. I haven't put any huge fish in the boat but I did get a Heavy 46 and couple other mid 40" fish on the 80lb.

Also if it means anything I have some of my better customers in the store comming back for more after trying it.

Thought i recognized the name. Ross's sport shop. i have a place on the chain up there and have been in your shop many times for bait. Still learning those lakes. Been a tough go for musky this year. May stop in and try the vicious line next time i am up.
I just bought a new AC300 and strung it with Powerpro. the entire outside (front) of the reel is green. I love PP, but i must have got a spool of Extra Waxxy this time.

Any of you guys ever try Cortland Spectron? It comes in 130# as well as 80# and 100#. Just curious how they might compare. I have been using Spectron for about 5 years. 80# and 100# for casting or trolling and 130# for live bait and I love it. No wax on my hands or gear plus it's nice and quiet in the guides.

yep, i use that too. it's a very good line as far as i am concerned. I think all of them are. i have PP, Spectron and stealth all loaded on different reels. I am liking the Stealth quite a bit. Seems thinner than the rest and can take abuse so far.

I have always been a PP guy and have used it for many years. I had a chance this last year to use some Vicious and found that It was as good or beter in some ways to PP. I like the fact that the color dose not get all over but it dose fade. I have started to switch over on all of the rods I get a good amount of water time and have yet to have any kind of failure. It also dose not take on water witch I like. If you have a chance you may want to give it a try.

My good friend and tournament partner Tom Dietz has been using Vicious braid all year and has nothing but good things to say about it. I have also used it and liked it, but I have to much Cortland in bulk to change. I used Power Pro for several years, but feel both Vicious and Cortland are superior.
