Hello first time poster and very new to muskie fishing. I am going to a friends cabin on Jim lake near Fort Coulonge in Quebec. This is mainly going to be a pike trip because that is what my friend mainly fishes for but told me to ask the forum if any muskies are in the area. Well thanks in advance for any tips on rivers or lakes and tackle selection. Also the trip will be from Sept. 24 till Oct 4. Did not know if that has any impact on tackle and presentation.

Location: East of muskie country
I think you need to go further south, closer to Ottawa on the Ottawa river to find muskellunge. As far as Quebec lakes, further east - over an hour, but I would focus on the Ottawa river as there is little info. on the very few lakes that have muskies in this area and on top of it most are deep, clear trout lakes that can be very difficult without help. These are definitely not numbers lakes as well. If you want to catch fish focus on Pike or travel south on the Ottawa.
