Posts: 20255 Location: oswego, il | I priced one this spring and it was below some of ther other dealerships around. The trailer was not as nice but the rest was the same. never had service work done there. Last fall they had a 175 tiller with a 75 yamaha in hofman estates for 16,200, minus the goodies.

Posts: 18 | I bought a Ranger 620 last fall.My salesman was Doug Enslen at Cabelas Dunedee in Michigan. The best salesman I have had the pleasure of doing business with on any purchase that I have made.He answered most question right away,if he did not know I had a answer in no time.I would do buisness with him if I had to buy another boat. Also the one two punch John Minke the Department manager for the marine service has really been a big help with the extras I had put on the boat,he has shown a lot of patience with the questions I have asked. Thanks bob620

Posts: 537 Location: Gilberts IL/Rhinelander WI | I bought my boat at Cabela's in Oct. '07. A Lowe stinger 170. The guys at the store were great and the service has been good. After last season I brought it to them to fix a few minor things. The drain cover in the floor, water in the water-proof tail lights, etc. Everything has been covered under warranty, no questions asked. The only thing I have to complain about is the trolling motor. I upgraded from a '78 starcraft 15' V-hull. That boat had a 40#? Minn kota. Pushed the boat no problem. The new boat came with a 46# motor guide. I questioned it ,and the salesman said the MG would be just fine. It is the biggest P.O.S. ever. I blame myself for not researching it a little better and for not taking it right back. Otherwise Cabela's has been great. Anyone have a 70# Minn Kota w/ autopilot that you want to get rid of?????

Posts: 291 Location: Madison, WI | I bought a boat this spring from Cabelas and have had good luck with them. The only bummer being that they are 1.5 hours away from me so any warranty work is a pain to take over there. Ive had a few issues up to this point and they have been good about everything. The trailer (Phoenix) that came with the boat is a beefier trailer than a shorelandr and it has worked great up to this point. I purchased a 175 Navigator from them and I didnt like how the throttle was positioned so far away along the side of the boat. If you look at the 2008 vs. the 2009, they removed an additional plate that moved the throttle closer to the driver. It almost seemed like you were reaching back for the throttle and it felt very uncomfortable. Cableas said they would look into and have Alumacraft manufacture a plate for it (similiar to the 2008 model). They installed it and it looks and works great, all free of charge. When I traded my old boat and motor in (60 Merc Tiller, 98) they hooked it up and said I was lucky I was trading it in when I did, there was a problem with the motor that was going to go on it (i forget what exactly). They never asked any questions and didnt reduce the original quote on the trade even though they had to fix the motor before re-selling it. That was nice. One last thing to keep in mind. If there are any issues with the boat (if you buy an Alumacraft), Cabelas is their largest customer by a long long way, they will do whatever it takes to keep Cabelas happy and in turn, Cabelas keeps you happy. Oh, and they were by far the cheapest and I even upgraded from a 115 4 stroke to a 150 opti for very very little.
