Looking at a boat with a 2002 150hp mercury EFI. Anyone have any experience -good or bad.

The EFI motors are some of the best built motors out there, better than the Opti's a lot of people say. Only bad thing about the Mercury EFI's is that they are thirsty motors, they like the gas. However, a very reliable, strong, fast motor that at times can be a bit fussy in cold weather to start but once it's goin, they run like champs! My suggestion is if you can find a rig with an Opti, it'll save you a lot when it comes to filling it up.

i second the notion of the thirsty EFI. i've got a 2000 225EFI and it drinks it like coca-cola. however, like TJ said, it's been reliable and it's not scared to get up and go and it sounds like a stock-car if you're into that sorta thing...i steered clear of the older opti's due to their tendency to blow power-heads.
