Anyone running a 620 with 250XS on it? Average top speed? Is the XS good on gas at half throttle? 250XS reliable?

Low to mid 60's range depending on load. Yes, the 250 XS Opti Max is a reliable motor. I've run a couple, and 4000 RPM was the sweet spot for fuel economy.

Would you be very leary of buying one with a new powerhead put in it, with no warranty?

Depends on the price, a new one costs over 17K. If the motor was cared for, no worries, have a Merc Opti tech plug it into the computer.
