Can someone recommend me a guide for the TFF? I will be up there the first week in August and would like to go out with a guide the first day I'm there. Thanks. I use to have a username a couple of years ago and can't remember my password to save my life. Can't get a new one emailed to me either because I signed up using a college email and I graduated. Doh.

Location: Lake Tomahawk, WI | Gordy Hastreiter - knows the flowage very well, very energetic fisherman that will work his tail off to put fish in the boat. [email protected] Howie Meyer - no introduction necessary, a lesson in the area's history as well as a wealth of knowledge. JS

Posts: 20212 Location: oswego, il | I cannot find any info online for the two tackle shops but one is the turtle river trading company and there is one across the street and the name escapes me. The owner of that one is a guide, good guy. I think he guides out fo a 20' alaskan. Turlte River Trading has guides too but I do not know any of them. I edited after seeing the post above and also reccomend Howie Meyer of Seven Islands Guide Service. Russ Wayre is also an ecellent guide as well. Here are their websites respectively: http://www.sevenislandsguideservice.com/ http://www.russwarye.com/ Edited by ToddM 6/1/2009 7:58 PM

Posts: 4343 Location: Smith Creek | Another vote for Brian Long. His articles for Musky Hunter were my favorite, mainly because we fish a lot of the same waters. He seems to be able to catch big fish in The Flowage year in and year out.

Posts: 29 | I would give Rick Domini a call, he has fished the flowage for years and he knows it extremely well. He used ot own the D bar D resort in Flambeau. He is a great multi-species guide big Smallies, Walleyes and of course big Muskies! His website is http://www.ricks-fishing.com/. He pretty much exclusively fishes the Flambeau Flowage, good guy who has been doing it for years. He wrote the whole section in the Hot Spots book on Muskies (top 50 lakes in wi) on the turtle Flambeau flowage.

I used a guy who fishes out of the lodge we stayed at. We stayed at the Hideaway Lodge (715-476-2160), it's on the northern end. My guides name was Bobby Orr. He was great, very helpful, friendly, patient, and didnt mind me asking every question in the book. We had some pretty decent action and would have had a picture or two but I am pretty much a beginner and things didnt work out as well as they almost did hahaha! Maybe next time! I would use him again. Just my two cents.

Posts: 4343 Location: Smith Creek | Ramsell is a great guide, no question. The problem is The Flowage is constantly changing, water levels go up and down, weeds show and disappear year to year. You need someone who is on it daily, and Ramsell's all over the place.

Posts: 156 | I hate to bump an old thread, but I wanted to let you guys know that based on the recommendations on this thread I booked a trip with Brian Long. I could not have been more happy. We did not fish the TFF because we had not caught a musky before and Brian wanted to put us on some smaller action waters. Brian guided me to my first Musky and the buddy I fished with also got his first Musky! He is a great guide - patient, helpful and fun to fish with. Brian worked hard to get us on fish, and put us on some very scenic water to boot. Watching a bald eagle dive bomb loons was a great bonus. 3 fish in the boat! Posts: 203 Location: Germantown, WI | I could be wrong, but I don't think Howie Meyer guides on the TFF. I know he does guide the Gile Flowage. If you are looking for a good guide Howie would be a great choice for Vilas County or the Gile Flowage in Iron County. . I've never fished with him, but I have met him several times and heard him speak to the Milwaukee Muskies Inc chapter a couple of times .
