Posts: 2323 Location: Stevens Point, WI | The Leech Lake MAC event dawned with heavy fog and light winds out of the SE. During morning interviews with the teams, everyone seemed optimistic and all were very pleased to hear the winds are supposed to subside, allowing them to hit areas that were unfishable due to high winds prior to this morning. Ben Olsen and partner Andy came into this morning with little prefishing time but spends a lot time on Leech and knows just how the fishing can be in late August. Ben emphasized with the fronts that have moved through and the water temps being down for this time of year, he felt that by mixing up presentations and working to trigger fish was going to be key. Forecast for today is predicted to be sunny with light winds out of the SE at 7mph and air temps 75 degrees. Watch for the LIVE webcast taking place at the Walker City docks located right next to Chase on the Lake starting approximately at 5:30 PM. Posts: 507 | Leech Lake was stingy today after the cold front blew through. The teams had opportunities, with half the field reporting lost fish, but no 40" minimum muskies made it into the net for the event. All the anglers reported having a great time on the water despite the tough bite. Most of the reported action was within a short window associated with the morning major activity period and a ripple of low pressure that went through sparking a bit more wind out of the South East. There were 10 paid teams. The question came up at the rules meeting and all teams agreed to the raffle off the payout at the rules meeting in the event of a fishless tournament. MAC events pay out all money at each event regardless of the number of fish caught. A number of teams were close, but no teams were able to keep their fish stuck. Watch for video from the event to be posted over the next several days; even though no fish were caught, there is a ton of valuable info in there. Overall a fun event and looking forward to the rest of the MAC events for 2009 and growth into 2010.
