| this year im learning more about using the majors and minors and solunar tables with muskies. But it seems that some anglers stress them a lot and others just a little. How much do you value the moon, the majors and minors when your out on the water?

| I am doing the same thing this year. The only thing I don't understand is lets say for example you have a moon rise and a sun set at the same time or at least very close to each other. Great time to be on the water right? Well then why, for that same day, would the major and minor feeding times be completely differant than that sunset/moonrise? |

| Check what Bucher has to say on the subject! 4 times matter and they are sunset, sunrise, moonset, and moonrise. All the other majors and minors are irrelevant. Heck if you take all 4 of those times plus the majors and minors that should pretty much cover the whole day! LOL |

Location: Seymour, WI | I don't have as much time on the water as alot of guys do, but my own observation is that the daily major is the best time of the day to be fishing. The last few yrs I've had several days on the water with no activity except during the daily major. Tom Gelb wrote an excellent article about this in MH a couple of yrs ago. I'd like to here what some of the guides have to say about the daily major/ minor times.

Location: Lake Tomahawk, WI | Have seen set/rise/majors produce too many times to discount. Have experienced many boats on different water all report increased activity during the same time periods. They don't always come through, but have enough for us to pay attention. But, like muskiewhored mentioned, a good storm front rolling in is more effective in getting fish active.

Location: Lafayette, IN | Within 7 min following moonrise I CPR'd my 50. The Muskyfirst'ers had already headed in an hour earlier that night and 3 of their boats were on the same spot I moved into after they left at 10pm. My guide friend up there fishes the night time majors religiously.

| I just started tracking maj/min this year and had one day where the last hour of a major was right as a small front was moving in with rain. We raised 7 fish in that hour, 1 lost, 1 boatside swipe, including two fish that came in on separate baits simultaneously (topwater and jerkbait). Cool to see their reaction to each other.
I really think the major added to the activity along with the front because of how many we saw. Never had that kind of activity, maybe a fluke but I will be watching it more. |

| personally i'm not sold on majors/minors just yet..to me weather is first, then moonset/moonrise/sunset/sunrise and moon underfoot has been good....if you believe everthing pretty soon the whole 24 hour period will be "good"....
i will watch it more this season but to me it could be a SFP ?
time will tell.... |

Without the moon we wouldnt have tides and my guess is that could throw the whole planet out of whack. Thank God for the moon.
I fish when I can, pay no attention to the moon, sun, stars, intergalactic wars etc.

Location: On the water | I pretty much fish when I can and don't watch the moon phases at all. I would like to believe in the moon having to do with fish activity but I just can't get confidence in it. |

| something I just figured out as I hadn't really looked at the times or windows for "majors" and "minors"
One of the 2 majors for each day happens to be the 2 hour window around moon over head....1 hour before until 1 hour after...with moon over head exactly in the middle of that major
the other "major" happens to have moon under foot in the 2 hour window but not exactly in the middle...close though...
so if you are on the water and want to know when a so called major is happening just figure out the moon underfoot and overhead times...

Location: Madison Wi. Chain | I like to try to find out when a particular body of water is having a feeding window. I sometimes find that the window is around the same time each day and may be unique to the particular lake you are fishing. This weekend the window of fishing activity was around 10:30 am next morning window around the same time. I am not convinced that these window are moon etc. related, but believe that if you find out when these windows are occuring you can use this info. to make sound fishing decisions. BG |

Location: Musky Tackle Online, MN | Moon overhead is when it's directly over you and underfoot is when it's directly under you. Look at your moon rise and set times and find the half way point.
