Posts: 1916 Location: Greenfield, WI | After church this morning, I took my life into my own hands today, and risked my wife's and daughter's as well by going out onto Pewaukee Lake today. We had everything possible out there including a float plane! The main reason for the trip was to learn how to operate my new Lowrance HDS8, but there was time to fish as well. In spite of all the insanity on the lake I boated a 34"er, a 36"er, and a nice bass, and saw 8 other small legal muskies. Most everything was caught in the middle of all the on water activity! There were periods of standing waves just from all the boat traffic. But again it proves my points below!

Posts: 32885 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Worked an Anglers Insight Marketing tournament in Green Bay(which was very cool), and had to stay for the Fire Over the Fox Fireworks with 100,000 other folks because the weigh in was in the cordoned off area in Green Bay proper. Spectacular. Heading up to Spring Bay tomorrow for a working vacation!

Posts: 1287 Location: WI | Countless follows and strikes, but I put a 33 and a 37 in the boat. While figure 8'ing a high 30's my boat partner was watching and had a fish nail his topraider at the same time, that was pretty cool! For me the DCG seems to be more of a search bait. Get a follow, go back and throw a Weagle...bam!

Posts: 1220 | Had a personal best 3 musky night on Pewaukee Thursday night, then a fairly amazing Friday afternoon on the Milwaukee River boating one Pike and Smallie after another only to return to my usually bad technique on Pewaukee Saturday morning. I saw my bait catch on some weeds and tried one of those sometimes successful hard jerks to get it free and save some of the retrieve. Just as I pulled really hard, I saw the bait come right out of the mouth of a really nice fish that was attempting to eat it. That, and only two non-committal follows served to put my ego right back where it belonged. Marty Forman

Posts: 1764 Location: Ogden, Ut | Didn't throw a muskie bait all weekend. I don't seem to have the patience required to put up w/ the crowds here. So the boys and I went to a bigger reservoir (w/ smaller parking lots) and picked up a couple walleyes. S.

She missed about 6 fish do to poor hooksets and getting freaked out when they show up at boatside. Lots of laughs though! She is hooked. DaleJ.

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | Strange to say, but I was actually relieved to catch a 35 inch northern yesterday. Never saw a musky all weekend, but not too far apart (timewise) I caught this one, and another guy caught a 40 inch northern on the same lake but in a dfferent boat. No muskies, but this is the first action I've had from a bigger fish in quite a while. Hopefully things start moving a little. curleytail Attachments ---------------- northern2.jpg (125KB - 104 downloads)

Posts: 393 Location: Hopefully on the water | Friday fished for a couple of hours in Vilas and nothing to show for it but the 4 year old had fun with his bobber pole. The bobber didn't sit still long enough to catch anything. He wanted to do what dad was doing. He kept casting with the bobber and worked on his figure 8's. Pretty funny to watch. Saturday went out with my dad and we had seen 7 fish. 4 of them followed and 3 were cruising around. I messed up on the hookset on the figure 8 and lost a small tiger around 32". We moved our fish on dbl cwg and rabid squirel's. Sunday decided to take my other son out and do some bass fishing where we saw a bunch the day before. We caught around 20 largemouth and around the same amount of panfish.

Posts: 2269 Location: SE, WI. | Pewaukee ; Once again has been hotter than a pistol!!! Ended the weekend with a 46.75", 38, 38.5 on Saturday, 35 on Sunday, and 35" on Monday the 6th. 17 fish last week total going back to 6/28. Had a 8 legal day on 6/28 in about 5hours with 30+ mile hour NW winds. Topwater and prop wash trolling has been the ticket all season. Most fish coming with 2 - 8 feet of line out. It has been a blast. Not sure if I'd seen this lake better for #'s of fish from 35" - 46.75" Next up....LOTW'!!!;-)

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | Ok, I'm a day late, but I caught one tonight. I haven't posted a fish being caught in so long I'm bending the rules. Caught this on a Hard Head. Boat in 25 feet of water. Casting to just outside weedline in about 10 feet of water. 42 inches, and surprisingly, one of the harder fighting fish I have caught. Just wouldn't give up. curleytail Attachments ---------------- 42b.jpg (83KB - 97 downloads)
