Can anyone out there tell me how easy should this unit work when you deploy it? I am having to fight with it in order for it to drop in the water. But if I turn the prop to the inside of the boat, it works much better. Please help.

Mine's a sweet spot kind of thing. If I find the spot, it'll deploy easily. If not, I gotta wrestle it.

First one was so difficult I had to exchange it. Current one I own is still a pain. Tried ArmourAll on the shaft...minor improvement. I wonder if after it bounces around on the front of our boats for awhile someting in the mechanical levers that release stiffen up. Doesn't seem to get easier after broken in...I just got used to it, or like the others said, you find a better angle, spot or method of deploying. Otherwise a good motor, quiet, comes out of the lake and stows easy, etc.

After about 8 trips out this year my Terrova is becoming a little easier, almost fell out of boat a week ago in 3fters on St.Clair.Called my dealer and told them to order me a Fortrex today. Its a shame because I love the auto pilot feature.I really miss my Genises,I wish they could of worked on it more to make it work. The other thing I read about that the Terrova does, the head starts turning to the left and wont stop I unpluged the unit and it stopped then plugged it back in, it was alright, but it did one more time later in the day.Man I still don't know what I am going to do.

This is my second season on my Terrova and I've been wrestling with it from day one. It has a sticky spot of some sort but has started to deploy more easily the last few times out. Other than that, I love the motor. The controls are great and it is easy to use and it has plenty of power.

I have the same problem with the cheaper power drive series. I've had to beach the boat before so i could pull it out.
