Thinking of getting one for double 10's with a 4.1:1. Does it matter which one really, i.e., 7000c3i, 7000iHSN, pro rocket, or 7000i red?

I like the black look the best although I have 2 questions. Does the pro rocket have a levelwind? On those hotter days does the black get too hot that it's uncomfortable to hold in your hand? Thanks.

I would recommend taking a look at the Daiwa Saltist Levelwind reels for a small amount more. I have both the Saltist 30HA and an Abu 7000HSN and I much prefer using the saltist, the abu is now my backup rig.

That being said I have had NO problems with my 7000, the Saltist is just far smoother and handles bigger baits better.

Does the saltist bring 10's in "easier" than the abu's? Does'nt the saltist have a higher gear ratio? Now you've got me thinking......

I would say a little easier, but obviously quicker at least the 40 I got. Its not like butter I will tell you that honestly.

It all depends on what you really want to do with them. I have the 7000 with the push button, can't remember the exact model. I usually slow roll the double 10's, but I can burn them and have absoluetly no problems. With that being said I don't burn all the time, so I don't need anything else. I have used a trinidad 14 and didn't really like it that well. I thought it pulled harder than my 7000 and it had no levelwind, so I will take the 7000 over that, take it for what it's worth. Don't just take the opinions of what you hear. Find someone with the reels you're looking at and see if they will let you throw a few casts and make up your own mind. Like I said, it all depends on what you really want to do with the reel. JMO. Dave.

Do some searches and you'll find all kinds of info on the 7000's.

Shimano Tekota 500. Rollie and Helens has a custom auto-engaging model available. IMO the best Cowgirl reel available right now. It will last for years.

The saltist is by far better for burning than any garcia 7000 HS or regular. I have a HS 7000, and trying to burn 10's will wear you out.
