Posts: 253 Location: On the water | High, Big, Palmer, Fishtrap, Oxbow, Horsehead, Wildcat, Pickeral, Lynx, Black Oak, Muskellunge, Big Arbor Vitae. I haven't been to any of them but I've heard these are all pretty good lakes from this site. Good Luck!

Posts: 999 | Good Luck on Black Oak! Musky's are not native nor were never stocked in there. Palmer is a great bet but dont be afraid to take the channel up to Tenderfoot, both are outstanding bodies of water and both are totally different. More then enough water to keep you interested for a few days. Mr Musky

Posts: 393 Location: Hopefully on the water | Palmer/Tenderfoot, Ballard, Wildcat, High lake are all good for action along with the pike. LVD can be great or tough as heck for muskies. Pike on the other hand you can catch all the pike you want out there with a #2 Mepps yellow tail with a silver blade. Cisco Chain has its moments for action. It has potential for #'s and good size of fish. Plus it is a great body of water to see. So many offerings for different styles of fishing (rocks, weeds, stumps, open water, mid-lake humps). Just make sure to buy the MI Liscense, my wife found out with a $125 bluegill on the back side of a island that was in MI. Both our faults on that issue. Have a good time up there and good luck fishing.

Posts: 136 Location: Chicago | I've been up there quite a few times in mid and late june. We generally fished around St. Germain area jumping around BSG, LSG, Arbor Vitaes. We've had some of our best trips in June. We would look for the deepest and thickest weeds would could find. Some years they're scarcer than others at that time of the year it could take some searching depending where you hit. If you find isolated patches in fish'em. One time we found'em on sand. Smaller mepps, twitching minnows always got us action. If nothings going or you just wanna try something different go suspended cuz it works! Especially with pressured Vilas Cty. fish. Most important if things are really slow trailer up and hop to another lake and if it's slow there hop on to the next one till you get some action just how it goes sometimes up there. Posts: 724 Location: Southern W.Va. | My "Lake X" has already been listed in this post. Love this area and is my favorite area to fish. You can wear your arms out on pike on a few of these lakes. My "Lake X" has no pike . Now you figure it out. Hot lures for me has been Mantas, Reef Hogs , bucktails and a Crane 206 jointed. Mauser Mauser

i'd skip the eagle river chain altogether and spend time on the sugar-camp chain instead. there are a few others, some mentioned ... lots depends on what your interest/style is. when you're in the area and need help on the scc or others either email or call me 715.493.7848. i'd be glad to help out. that time of year is a good one

Posts: 2 | I'll be fishing Rainbow Lake (NOT the flowage) next week and possibly Tamarack. I know there is no good public access to either of these lakes but does anybody have any helpful tips on the musky in these two lakes. They are connected to Birch Lake if this helps. Thanks.

Posts: 158 | I said I would give my report, so here it is. Well we just got back from three and a half days of fishing in Vilas Cty. I will pass on what I saw. LVD was tough to fish with all the floating weeds but we moved one on a Hellhound in Misery Bay, one on pink blades and one on a topraider, decent action, small-med size fish, but no biters. Kentuck, we mulitple saw fish laying in the sand, couple good ones, but not interested in anything we threw at them, no follows only sightings. Smokey, we saw a panfisherman fight a good ski for quite a while until she broke off just before we got on scene to help with a net and release. We finally got the net wet on Palmer, mid-low riders and topraiders put three in the boat in one eve. Star lake was tough, we saw two in the shallows and both followed but saw the boat and spooked. We did have a friend that caught two on the eight in that crystal clear water somehow, one was big, so that could be a good overcast day lake for you. Lastly, the motherload, Big Sand Lake. Just go there everyday, we didn't get on this pattern until our last day. The fish, lots and bigguns, are hoggin in the weed beds. Silver and black (surprise) cowgirls and smaller moved many fish all day on these cabbage/foil mixed weeds. The deeper the cabbage the more fish we found. Good Luck TB

Posts: 222 Location: c.wis | big sand yesterday, moved 3, lost mid 40's at capones gazebo on beast teaser, right off the point were the shallow sand drops into mid-weeds, did well on pike and lm on spinnerbaits- wildcat was a bust but it was deadcalm/bluebird and 80-83(air) few smallies-palmer/tenderfoot lots of pike, some 30"+/ and lm one 38" moved another 1 oz. spinnerbait/single #8 white/red blade/silver flash-lac vieux desert nice but no action, pike and bass but thats about it, little portage- one @32", lots of pike,lm- and didnt have to deal with bears at all! great time, ill be back up in sept. thanks to all for the info! I talked to many people that were catching ski's on slipbobbers and leaches while fishing slop for eyes, they seamed to think that they were a bit lathargic yet?, I was at sullivans in eagle river, and he was saying that the bite has been good but the late winter has been effecting the fishing....... but he was saying that the bite has been good on small baits, and a slow presentation- didnt see many people boating fish, and few anglers- most were out for eyes/pannies.. heard some repots from kentuck, and northtwin- tight lines
