Subject: Trailer Questions - any manufactures out there?

I have a trailer that was hand made. On the trailer I have an aluminum boat. What I would like to know is if any of you know of any guidelines to balancing a trailer. In other words what percentage of weight should be on the back wheels, and what percentage of weight should be on the trailer hitch? I need specifics. The goal is to allow maximum performance of my trailer when attached to my car. Any trailer makers have any idea? Should the front of the trailer lift up when the boat is? There must be some way to fine tune the weight of a trailer.
