So, I am curious to how many of you are using gloves during releases. Thoughts are appreciated

I carry Musky Armor gloves with me at all times. Then, in haste, I forget to put them on, and handle all my fish without them. Then at the end of the day I often look at my knuckles and think "ow, crap, I shoulda put on a glove!"

At least I'm honest!

I don't, but i should. I usually seem to do pretty well handling fish, but just about every one last year seemed to scuff and slice me up. Haven't really caught enough this year to see how I'm doing, haha!

No Glove here. I keep one in the boat for others to use if they want to. I tried to wear one a couple years ago but didn't feel like I was getting a strong enough grip with a glove on. In my opinion, once you have held enough fish and are confident in your grip, a glove in not a necessity. But do whatever you feel gives you the best grip on the fish so you do not drop them.

The Musky Armor gloves are great. I carry a pair with me at all times. They are not like most fishing gloves where you can't get a good grip. These fit to your hand nicely and allow you to get a good grip on a fish. At $14.99 a pair it's a great price to save your hands from getting sliced up.

Musky Armor gloves are the cats @$$. I didn't use to live them, and a client gave me a pair. I love those things. You get a better grip on the fish and don't loose your grip when a fish thrashes because you know you're not going to get hacked up and all that fun stuff.

No better way to put it then get a pair or two. Even if you think you don't need them, once you use them, you'll be happy you got them!!!

After jerking on Bull Dawgs all day it seems that "The Glove" gives me the extra gip that I need to keep the fish and my hands safe.

I never wore them until I tried the Musky Armor gloves. As tuffy1 said above, I'm happy to have them now. A great cheap investment that has saved me a lot of blood shed!

I've only tried a glove when I was in a friend's boat. I didn't think it was too bad. That was a Lindy one. It did feel a little bulky, tho. I only wore the right one, because I still like to feel the slime!

Once you get cut up enough and have no desire to show your buddies your knuckles, you will wear gloves, good for you and the fish...

I haven't tried the Lindy ones. But the Musky Armor ones are much less bulky. They fit like a batting glove or golf glove. And I have to imagine they allow you to have a lot more feel than the Lindy ones. That's what I like about the Musky Armor ones. It's essentially like handling the fish with your bare hands, yet it protects your hands from getting cut up. They dry very quickly as well.

thanks for the info. I have been looking at getting some and wasn't sure if the Lundy were better since they are more expensive.

BB,

Like Aaron mentioned, they Musky Armor gloves feel almost like a golf glove. They aren't bulky at all, and more or less seem like another layer of skin to help keep you from getting cut up. We've handled a ton of fish with them since I've gotten them and I have zero complaints.

I have had both the lindy and the musky armor. The lindy is much bulkier like some have said. I really liked the musky armor gloves until my pair got stolen down at the lake. They both work but IMO the musky armor are much better. Its everyone's personal preference on whether or not to use a glove, but after the experience I had last year I personally prefer my tendons to be in one piece in my hands.

I've done both. I prefer using a glove so I don't tear up my hands and I feel that I get a better grip.

I've had lots of hand problems (tendon's, nerve damage, blah, balh) and sometimes have a hard time feeling what I'm holding (leave it alione :)). I sometimes wear the musky armor gloves to get a better grip on the rod & reel (I palm the reel) when I'm casting. As stated several times above they are much like a batting or golf glove, but the material doesn't shrink or get stiff like the other gloves do when they get wet. I think they actually grip better when they are a little wet. Now that I think about it I have never used them to hold a fish. I have caught fish while wearing them and I must subconsciously take them off. Looked back at all my photos over the years and not a one with the gloves on & holding a fish, but the time stamp on the photos taken just before and even after, gloves on. (sorry, rambling story of trying to figure out my own mind. I dained my bramige a long time ago)

Only if I'm doing a rectal exam. If I catch a muskie and it cuts me I figure we're even.

I will be wearing some this year. Trying out some Burlington/Northern/Sante Fe Railroad issue gloves...free and fit close to my hand, not bulky...should be good!
