I enjoyed watching Gregg Thomas' Spring video. I was struck by how ingenious it was to set up the rigging to troll large bucktails by using essentially a three-way with a large 12-14 oz ball sinker and then adjust depth by amount of line played out.

My question is whether or not you could use the same rig to troll large plastics like Bulldogs, again determining the depth by amount of line. Has any one tried this? If not, how are you getting those baits down deeper in the absence of a downrigger?

Curious as to what others are trying.

Thanks

one day I forgot a ball so I used a release on an anchor chain, worked fine: ive done that with dawg/dcg'ss- havent had results yet so couldnt tell you its the right thing to do- with the release though you dont have to fight the extra pound swinging around on you line- ive had an experiance at boca with the lead ripping the hooks out of the mouth so I dont use that method- ive rigged wtih a ruberband so it rips off- but that can get pricey- good luck though

The Stealth Line concept has been around a loooong time. Nothing new here. Used on the great lakes a ton. Used in salt water fishing a ton. Same concept as a downrigger without the large expense and hassle of a downrigger.

Simple concept that's been highly effective for generations.

Simple, have you used it for 'skies with the big soft plastics? Any success that way?

Thanks

This works with ANYTHING! It does not matter if your just trying to get cranks down deeper or keep them weed free using weights is a good idea under lots of conditions. As for bulldawgs it definitely works and works well. I like to use the heli dawgs when i troll just to give them a bit more flash.
