MinnKota (or at least Cabela's) recommends a 60amp circuit breaker when buying a new trolling motor . I have 40 or 50amp breakers or fuses already wired for my old 65# thrust motor and I'm going to an 80#. any reason to add another cicuit breaker?

this may seem obvious but if it keeps tripping then you need a bigger one I would guess. Try it and see. Can't do any damage - it could just be annoying for a trip. My old motor used to blow those inline fuses - one a trip - it was annoying so I went and bought the breaker.
