I was just wondering what kind of retreive works best with a spinnerbait?

I like to have the blades turning when the lure hits the water, and importantly to me at least, keep the lure running the same zone in the water column all the wy to the boat. In the slop, keeping the bait about 12" under the surface max all the way back, which means faster retrieve as the lure enters the water, then slowing some mid cast and a bit more as the lure nears the boat.

I usually reel pull so it speeds up. then drop it.. and repeat back to the boat.

Start reeling the second it hits the water. Then reel super fast, giving it a couple twitches here and there, making the head bounce up. (at least in warm water)

I use a pretty constant retrieve most of the time in weeds, but fluttering it works too especially in shield water where you can easily have 40-50' of water next to some prominant structure . Just make sure you get the lure moving forward in the air before it hits water, feel the blades thump a few times and then let it have slack. The line will make a bow towards the lure. By watching the line you will see rhythmic twitches as the blades turn on the fall. If a fish hits the line will make a little jump and then you nail them as hard as you can, but more often I'll get a fish to hit as I "jig" the spinnerbait back to the boat to keep it as deep as possible in that situation. There is no way you can run straight shafted bucktails as deep as the spinnerbaits without a high number of fouled casts or many yards of no blade motion while you try to get the blade started. Sometimes you can get away with just a very slow retrieve on a very long cast where the weight of the spinnerbait pulls it down on the way to the boat. As long as you get the lure running as it hits the water you could say there is no wrong way to fish a spinnerbait. The heavier ones also troll very well with a little tuning at speeds to 5mph+.

I'll fish them like everyone else is saying and on sharp drop offs I will either hop it down the weed top or sit on the top of the break cast toward the deep and slowly reel It up the break.

It all depends on the bait and your intent. If I want to slow roll a bait in from the depths, I want it to sink on a tight line, then "roll" it in with some sharp "rakes" towards the end of the retrieves. If I want to copter a bait like the MM Copter baits, I let it sink on a tight line into weed pockets. If I want to burn it or just give it "some speed", I agree...get the blades spinning right away.
