Posts: 84 | I have a Tuffy esox 1700 and while in Canada last year the livewell stopped working. I pulled the pump out and when I turn it on the prop at the base of the pump still spins but won't pump water. I talked with Steve W on the phone about this but I wasn't quite for sure what he meant. I believe he was talking about some internal part that might be broken, but the prop still spins? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated before I buy a new one. Thanks.

Posts: 81 Location: Indiana | My old boat would airlock and I would have to remove the top of the pump while on the water to allow it to fill with water and then place the lid of the pump back on while it was running. Once the water was in the lines things worked fine.

| maybe the lines clogged to the livewell, have you checked that or any way to do so,are you getting any water in your boat, maybe the connection of the hose came off.just a thought, hope you find the problem. | |||

Posts: 1185 Location: Wishin I Was Fishin' | Pull it out and make sure it spins when you turn it on...if not electrical...if it spins look at the plumbing. I have all cartridge style pumps and love them....great option to have an extra cartridge in the boat and able to pull it out and clean it easily....a little more money for the initial purchase but well worth it.

Posts: 84 | thanks for the input guys. The propeller is running so I know its not an electrical problem, and I'm getting some water in the livewell per usual when I have the boat in the water and not running the pump. I'll hook up the air compressor to it to see if I have some junk in the lines.

Posts: 433 Location: Cedarburg, Wisconsin | Had a problem at the end of last year where the pump ran but no water flow. Took the cartridge out of the pump body and the impeller spun great when turned on, it just wouldn't pump water. My X-190 had a plastic screen device over the water inlet and it was somewhat clogged, about 30%. Took it off, back flushed the line, and it pumped great after that, but I had the plastic screen device off. Now I'm going to reinstall the plastic screen and see what happens next trip out. Could be it just restricted the flow too much that the pump had an air bubble in the impeller? We'll see.
