Hey i am planning on purshasing a revo toro and just want to know if anyone has bought one yet or used one on the water yet. It would be nice to know how they compare to a callcutta, cuarado, C4. etc.

I bought one yesterday, but I haven't used it yet. So, I guess I wouldn't be any help to you.

I have 2 days on mine so far, and I love it. Mind you this is coming from a guy who swore never again to own an Abu muskie reel. I do love my Shimanos but I'll use the Toro over my Curado.

I have been beating the crap out of mine since opener, I have been out for 14+ hours most days and have only taken one day off since May 2nd, it handles like a champ and I haven't had any problems with my hands being uncomfortable.

Should i get the toro50 or the toro60? does it really matter that much to have the extra line capcitity of the 60?

They are cool reels - I'd take a 400te over it any day though.

To those that have been using the new Toro ... Have you tried turning any of the centribuge breaks on/off? The design seems very cheap, and difficult to turn off/on. I'm hesitant to mess with mine cause I'm afraid of breaking one of the pins/breaks. Any tips to do this more easily? IMO Pflueger & Shimao has a much better design.

Also, what break setting works best for you? I have 2 set on (factory preset), and have to do lot of thumbing to prevent backlashes. So was looking to set it to 3-4 breaks on. I could also compensate by increasing my spool tension knob, but prefer to use this as little as possible.

Thanks!

I don't see how it's that difficult to turn on or off the brakes I have done this literally hundreds of times on Toros and other Abu's with the same brake design and have never broke one yet.

As for what setting work for me I usually turn them all off and use my thimb but each person is different.

I haven't messed with my Toro yet but all my other reels I run brakes off and use my thumb.

The Toro brake system is one of the best on the market, how can it be hard to turn on or off brakes ??????? I run with 2 brakes and the cast control is very loose on my reel, will run 3-4 brakes if casting into strong wind all day.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone ...

PikeMaster, I'm not questioning how good the break system is, I just think the plastic caps seem kinda cheap. Look at a Pflueger centrifuge design on their newer models, and you'll see the difference I am refering too - not a big deal just my own observation.

After reading the replies, I tried messing with the brakes. Without a doubt, on all the 4 breaks that were in the off position, it took quite a bit of force to pop the brakes on. I was concerned that I would either break the lip of the cap or my finger nail (I actually did crack my nail when I tried it couple days ago - must need more milk ). After successfully pushing it on the First time - I did notice it got easier to turn on/off, so all is good for now.

The first time issue, might just be my reel.

I have one as well, and didnt have a problem with a single backlash.
I wasnt planning on using this as my 10's reel, because I have a saltist for that but you guys who do have them are you running the high speed one with big blades?
Muskiehunter - Big blades too????
I wasnt ready to start pulling big baits on mine because its the high speed and I figured it was to new to try them, wanted feedback on the big blades before I did, Im no ginniepig!

I have used it to throw big blades and it handles fine even without the power handle, but I use my Morrum w/ power handle for my big blades. It is still too early in the season for me to decide which reel is going to be used to throw dbl 10's exclusively, most likely it will be my Morrum or my Induron 250 (if it would ever come). Also I don't have the High Speed I opted for the regular Toro 60.

hahaha same as me, to new for me to try the reel killers on it.

Yeah i took the high speed because all i wanted it for was jerk baits, picks up line fairly quick! Also smaller/medium baits. I think I will like it for the topwater as well. Keep me posted if anything goes crazy with it, I will do the same.
