Fishing has been on and off the past week up here in Oneida/Vilas county. As we've experienced throughout the season, there really hasn't been much of a pattern for baits, weather, etc....staying on the water and keeping your line wet is key, as always! We have started to get a better deeper bite going with big Curly Sues; I got my season best 46-47" on a Sue this past Monday over 15 feet of weeds and we got 7 more last week on Sues over deeper weeds. We have also been having luck on topwaters and bigger bucktails in shallower water. We've been moving a lot of big fish, but they're just shy of biting. With this cold weather coming in, you'd typically think the fishing will slow down; but who knows. We've had our best days this year on some of the coolest, windier days so don't be afraid of the cool and windy weather.
Good luck to everyone who gets out this weekend...stick some big ones and show everyone your pictures, Jake Bucki
