I have a couple of 8'6 okuma's and they have been working great but the first 6 trips they would easily extend in and out. So easily that when changing rods and hooking the lure on the keeper when reeled tight the rods would collapse, which was fine. I put a saltist on one and now one rod is stuck extended, and I think its stuck because with that saltist I thumb the spool dead and engage the lever before the lures hits the water and I think a couple of hours might have done it, or it could have been the rain and humidity we had saturday? Its no big deal if I can't get it collapsed, I have had my walleye trolling rods that are telescopic and I have had some them stick as well, and then one day they collapse? Any ideas or suggestions? I have heard of people using car wax on two piece rods to keep from casting off the end section, not sure if that would help, to keep it working better?

I had a telescoping flippin stick that got stuck once. I figured I just exerted too much pressure when I extended it. Here's how I got it loose again: Take it someplace (most likely outdoors... sidewalk works well) where you can hold it vertically with the butt on the ground. With one hand grasp the rod blank about one foot above the point where it slides into the rear section, and with the other hand grasp the rear grip. Now LIGHTLY tap the butt on the ground while pushing down on the main part of the blank. It might take a minute or two but eventually it will slide down into the handle. If I'm not being clear let me know and I'll try to explain better.

Hopefully what happened to mine doesn't happen to you, last year on a trip after extending my Tica telescoping rod fishing for a while I tried to get it to go back in and it wouldn't. Continued fishing and on the hook set of a small fish it broke just above the front grip. I'm guessing since it was extended slightly more then normal which is why it was stuck created a weak spot and it snapped.

I tried the tapping method on the boat floor and my garage floor, hopefully it doesn't end up breaking. Good thing I have a long box truck!

You could send it back to the manufacturer, but shipping cost for an 8’ 6” rod would kill you….

Try heat, take a Benzomatic to it, don't burn it just heat it, then do the tapping thing. If that doesn't work put an ice pack on it for a while then do the tapping thing.
