Location: Black Creek, WI | Has anyone modified their locker to accept longer sticks?
I'm spoiled right now with a 10'6" locker in my 681VS.... but was considering "upgrading" to a 618. The smaller rod locker would be a problem for me. |

Location: In the slop! | Jason, I thought about the same thing. After seeing what they did to the rod-locker in the 618, I'm staying with my 681! |

Location: Eau Claire, WI | I had a 618VS, previous rig was 690 and I liked the box-style instead of the rod tubes in the 618. I did make an attempt at removing the rod tubes in the 618 with no success. That is part of the boat that has the foam in it, I wasn't able to budge them. So for three seasons I learned to live only having 7 rods in the locker, which was more than I needed so the 12 I carried in the 690 was pointless.
I wouldn't avoid the boat just due to that, the rod tubes work fine for rods to 8'6"in length. If you need rod storage for longer rods you better look at an older 690 or certain 681's, or the 618 Tiller or a newer Tuffy, which has the best rod storage I've ever seen.
