| I have a 7'6" Shimano scimitar rod Heavy fast action and I'm looking for my second rod. I noticed a sale for Bass Pro Shops® Pete Maina Signature Series Muskie Rods and was wondering what type of rod anyone would recommend considering what I have. I was assuming at least 8' or possibley 8'6". What type of baits would I use each rod for? I'm probably going to use one rod for throwing cowgirls and the other for jerkbaits or topwater. |

Location: Ogden, Ut | I've become a huge fan of the Okuma Telescoping 8'6" rods. I have an XH and an H action and can throw anything in my box with them. For just over $100, it's pretty hard to beat them.

Location: Pelican Rapids, MN | I'd go with the St.Croix Premier 8' Heavy or the 8'6 XH. Both are great rods in the 100-200 dollar range. The good thing about those B.P.S Signature rods though, you can beat a path in the reeds with them if you have to find a spot to relieve yourself. |

I'd go with the St.Croix Premier 8' Heavy or the 8'6 XH. Both are great rods in the 100-200 dollar range. The good thing about those B.P.S Signature rods though, you can beat a path in the reeds with them if you have to find a spot to relieve yourself.

| Petes Rods and reels are both AWSOME for the Price you pay! I started out with them about 10 or 12 yrs ago. Though I have upgraded quite a bit since! I can honestly say That I have ZERO COMPLAINTS about either the rod or the reel! It is a great starter combo and/or if your just on a tighter budget!

Location: syracuse indiana | i also run bps's i have 8 of them and love them and they used to be 85 bucks but now they are 115 now and they have added a 8 1/2 xxh and a 9 ftr to the line up... been using them for years and i love them.. but i am swithching over to okuma soon . i just got on their guide staff so this should be fun...bill |

| Kieper and I have been throwing Musky Innovations rods since they came out. Not one has came close to breaking and we throw pounders and two pounders a lot. A product Kieper and I believe is (without a doubt) the best. |

Certainly not the least expensive rods in my arsenal, but then again the other rods he built for me are always in my boat, rigged and ready. I have other rods that never come out of my den. Which is the best value? To me, the best value is the rod I use. I vote for Frank's. |

I agree... I started with 3 BPS rods... no problems, they will get the job done but a year later ive replaced them with St. Croix's... because they get the job done BETTER  I still keep one mania in the boat as a spare but if I could do it over again, id have gone straight to the top and got the premiers I have now... would have saved me a couple hundred bucks in the long run.
I vote for you to save another 80-100 bucks or so and get a premier... just my 2 cents.
ps- if you really dont want to drop that extra money id go with a Triumph over the Mania too if you can find one like youre looking for... same blank and warrenty as the Premier just made in china, and not as many options to choose from. |

Location: Kronenwetter, WI | I like the Gander option---8-6 H IM8 for 79-89 bucks----nice feel.......all rods can snap---been there done that---high end or not---many makers warranty their rods and you can get a replacement, but the nice thing about gander is that you walk into the store, put down the broken item on the counter, walk over to the rack and pick up another no questions asked. Since I have a Gander 1 mile from my front step, that's the direction I'm going for my second and third rods now |
