| I'm sure this has been covered before but i was wondering how you test wood baits before putting all the finishing work into them. I've heard of people testing with no coating on them and then letting them dry out. What do some of you do?
It's a bummer when all that time spent on the finish product and it don't swim right.
Thanks in advance,

Location: Norway | I soak my lures in a thinner/cd case mix, hang them up to drip/dry and theyre ready for testing, when Ive gotten it right, I fill epoxy putty in the lead holes, and dip some more in the mix, to smooth them out.

Location: Hyvinkää, Finland, Europe | I use very thin propionate baced lacque (with aceton) where I let my lures be ca. 24 hours. Then I let them dry one week or more and test weightning after that. Works fine. |

I take approx 1 litre of Thinner in a tall jar of some kind, and disolve 5-6 clear covers in that over night, I prefer the mixture to be thick, and its easier and quicker to add more thinner, rather than more cd covers. When its all dissolved, i just let the baits be in there for 30 minutes, maybe more, then I feel I ve an ok sealing for the testing. When Im done testing, I am dipping several times, dip, dry for 20 minutes dip again hand from form the tail and then nose etc. You end up with a nice and smooth surface. I widh I could find white cd covers (The lids)
