Location: On Lake St Clair Michigan | I would like to use stuff that I can buy locally here in the Detroit area and of course I need to keep the prices down so here we go witht he questions...
What should I build the lip out of, Lexan?
What should I use to seal the wood?
Do I need to also apply a primer?
What paint so I use the airbursh?
And the final what should I use to protect the paint?
THANKSSSSSSSSSSSS |

| Lexan is THE way to go. So your building a crank bait of some sort. Hook scrape is an issue. Devcon 2 part epoxy works but it cracks easy, Envirotex works but they both have issues with teeth and puncture holes. As far as primer I don't sand the wod with a rough grit and the paint will sink in. Air Brush is cool if you know how to use them. Seal the wood? No need to if you use Devcon or Envirotex there gonna leak any way. Besides some of the best lures out there take on water and work better that way. I have one of the ugliest lures that I made that I patch up with Devcon all the time It works great. Just as long as you don"t plan on selling them. |

| Just got done fishing League with a [prototype], I don't at first at any time plan on selling any lure. So I make one up and fish it. If this what your planning on doing you don't need the fancy stuff yet. See if it works first then go from there. Mine didn't work tonight like I wanted it to so back to the drawing board so to speak, but not alot of money spent in something that dosen't work. So If your in it for the money OOOOHHHH boy you've got a lot to learn. Only about 1 in every 6 ideas work for me. But yes lexan is the way to go for lips, don't go through the hassle of primer for the paint on the first one, as long as the weight is good, and the bait works for you the way you want it to, then go for the fancy top coats and primers however you want, to some degree they all work it's a mater of what is your favorite. CAtch Some Fish!!!!!!!!!! |
