Does it really matter? And NO, I won't believe that the top color makes any frickin difference...lets talk BELLIES!
I usually just get boring and go with black, or stick with the fabled "Crunch-N-Munch" yellow bellied jackpot. Comments? Advice? Anecdotes? Dirty limericks?

Color only matters to the sucker buying the bait.

Slamr, I have seen times when the color did make a difference. Everytime the fish had a preference however, they were chasing black. Really frustrating when all the want is a black Top Raider and your baitless brother-in-law is throwing your only one. That particular evening he moved nine fish to my one, the only difference in baits being color( I was throwing a bullfrog AND had the front of the boat to boot). I have started buying almost all of my topwaters in black.

I like brighter or black,, I dont think color matters either in topwaters,, but if it snaps off on a cast I can find it if it floats

I think maybe it pertains more to the bait outline + sound than actual color...MAYBE...just my thought.[::)]

Black is good. Then there is Black, or black, or BLACK, whichever one prefers.[:praise:]

This time I have to disagree with Steve Worrall, "deep, dark black" is the only color to use not just black![;)]

Have to go with the group on this one, just spray
