Location: Oconto Falls, WI | Check out the 8' Heavy Lamiglas rod. Don’t let the “heavy” rating fool you. It is a fairly light rod that I use for the smaller stuff and most bucktails.

Any reel will do. Just run the spool tension loose.

| This is something that I put together--on the cheap--for northern pike and to throw lighter ski baits such as 6" Jakes, Grandmas, and Bomber Long As, regular Mepps Muskie Killers and 1 ounce spoons: 6'6" bait casting Ugly Stik for lines 8-20 lb., with a Gander Mt. baitcasting reel comparable to the Abu Garcia 5500. I used to have a reconditioned Abu 5500 on the rod, but it screwed up so many times I chucked it and bought the Gander reel on clearance for $49. The regular price was about $69.
I use 17 lb. Extra Tough Trilene on the reel. The downside of the above reels is that they don't have clickers. A bummer for trolling. This set up isn't fancy, but it works. |

| St. Croix PC76HF with a shimano calcuta 250, 65lb. superbrade and a stealth fluoro leader is what i use for pike fishing. it's a sweet setup, fast action, lightweight and powerful. |

Location: Bowling Green, KY | I use a heavy (bass) action BPS Extreme rod (7') with an old CU-200 Shimano
Curado spooled with 65 lb. braid. I actually catch most of my muskies with this
rod, as the fish around here tend to like small lures. |

Location: Pelican Rapids, MN | I use the St. Croix Legend Tournament Mega Swimbait bass rod. It is awesome for smaller apps. Right now I have that and a St. Croix Mojo Bass Regular Swimbait rod set up. The Mega Swimbait has a Revo Toro on it spooled with 65# Spiderwire Stealth Camo, and the Mojo has a Curado with 50# Sufix Braid. Both are Split grip rods and they are awesome! I used the Legend last season and it handled all sorts of blades, small twitchers, jerks, and light duty topwaters. Great for burning small blades!

Location: Oshkosh | Another vote for the 8' mh premier and a curado, or go with a toro high speed with 65# invisibraid. Great for small stuff and topwater!
