Im sure this question has been asked before but I couldnt find it. I just bought a Tracker last week that has spent most of its life in a covered slip... just wondering what recommendations you have for removing the water line and shining things back up?

Thanks

give the liquid lime-away in a bottle a try. works wonders for me when trying to get rid of waterlines.

There's also a hull cleaner, "On and Off" or "Off and On" something like that. It's pretty common in boating/marina circles where most boats sit in slips.

50-50 mix of vinegar and water, a nylon scrub brush and go to it. If it is just a hard-water or calcium deposit line, it will come off quick. I have used limeaway as well as CLR, and they do the job as well. Just be sure to spot check those before using...wouln't want to somehow fade the paint or stickers...

Are you talking about shining up the aluminum surfaces? I used some marine aluminum polish on mine. It's a paste that you work in like a rubbing compound. You basically apply and buff until it shines again. I used a pad applicator around the hard to reach places on the boat, really putting some elbow grease into it. Then I used a drill with a buffing pad attachment on the rest. Then I went over the whole thing by hand again. After that was finished, I used aluminum protector stuff and buffed that in as well. It took some time, and lots of work, but it took 16 years of oxidation off my boat...enough so I could see my reflection in it. Of course, it's been a couple years and needs a slight once over again...not nearly what it was like before though.

As for the sticker sections, go with what the guys said above.

Thanks for all the help guys.... I was installing a new depthfinder today and when I scraped the old silicone off to mount the new transducer bracket, the grime/water marks came right off with each scrape. so it should be pretty easy to get it off... I believe ill try the vinegar/water combo first and if that doesnt work Ill try some of the more serious stuff. Halfpint- Yes the aluminum.

Thanks again!

BTW... when I came off the water for the first time in it on sunday I noticed the decal was starting to tear and rip off near the back... Im assuming some of the pieces ended up in the lake. Is there anyway to stop this? or do I just remove them and order new ones?
