Posts: 227 Location: New Brighton, MN | I just bought my first creeper at the St. Paul Show over the weekend, and am excited to use it this spring... I chose Ty Senett's Creeptonite, cuz i've heard good things about it, Ty seems to be a good guy, and it seems in the middle of the road regarding the size of the lure and price. I'm wondering what conditions are best for this bait? should I just use it like I would any other topwater? (low light conditions) or does this bait excel in light chop? night fishing? calm water ???? is there any special way to work this bait, or is it just a simple, straight retrieve? Thanks guys Willis Edited by Willis 4/7/2009 2:36 PM

Location: Illinois | I'd say night time and during calm dawns and dusks are the prime opportunities for catching muskies on a creeper. Reel it slowly listening for a good gurgle. You'll know the right speed by the sound. If you want a highly qualified opinion, log on to Ty's messsageboard, if there aren't any creeper discusssion in his forums archives, post your query there yourself: http://www.tysennett.com/fishing-reports.shtml Good luck, I thin you'll fall in love with your new toy the moment you hear it's first gurgle!

Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | How to use a creeper: 1. Cast ten times, and retrieve.....slowly. 2. Undo leader clasp, take creeper off, return to box in exchange for topraider or the like.

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | Don't forget this little trick for creepers with the side hooks and a back prop. You can bend the side hooks back just a little and they will impact the back prop and make a nice little metal "ting" "ting" "ting" "ting" "ting" "ting". Kind of what Lee does with his cotter pin design on his topwater. Here is a pic of what I am talking about: Attachments ---------------- Kraken2.jpg (51KB - 122 downloads)

Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | It is the only lure that the slower you reel, the faster it goes. No joke. And, if you get one that can do that(jointeds the best to start with for that technique) at will, hold on man.

Posts: 3480 Location: Elk River, Minnesota | Agreed...the slower you reel, the more plooping you get, but it moves nowhere...it's definitely an in-your-face tactic. Deadly on calm nights after a bunch of boat traffic, High skies, HOT and humid....bugs everywhere... That has been my best time with these... Steve

Posts: 1287 Location: WI | The Creeptonite is a fun one to use. It has a neat swimming action. Make sure to do an L-turn boatside and watch out! I've had decent luck throwing creepers at porposing muskies.

typically had my best luck at night with them..some of the best are some very warm muggy/buggy nights in mid to late summer ...calm winds over cabbage etc...another time was shallow sand, 2-4 fow ..same conditions...and again as the water cools in the fall, water temps at about 60 at night... had some great success w/ creepers over the years...fish love em...
