Good blank!! I believe Thorne Bros builds some of their custom rods on Baston blanks. I just finished building an 8'-6" medium heavy rod for smaller bucktails and crankbaits. The rod is definitely tip heavy, but a bit of back weighting will take care of that quickly and make it balance well in the hand.

Batson has quite a few models to choose from and multiple lengths to consider as well. The blank I went with is actually a saltwater blank rated from 3/4 oz to 3 oz... One piece and it is pretty darn straight. The only thing I don't like about the rod is I used too small of cork for my liking (I like a big fat handle) but it will be very nice when it's balanced.

If you're thinking of having one built on a batson, you'll like it.
