I'm thinking about upgrading the electronics on my boat, saw Thorne Brothers has this model for 400$. Anybody have any experience with this model, positives/negatives to share?

I run two of them in my boat - one at the tiller and one at the bow. I like mine! Seem to have a good picture, screen is easy to see. It can be a little small while running split screens with the map and sonar, but there's no way around that with a 5" screen.

My only issue is they don't like to read in shallow weedy water. They lose the bottom signal, and the last depth it read flashes until you get out into deeper water. It sounds like there are updates that you can download to help with that, but I haven't tried doing them yet.

For $400, I would get one! That's cheaper than the 500c used to be, which is the same unit but with no GPS/mapping.
