Posts: 113 Location: Green Bay, WI | March 28th starting at 11:00 a.m. there will be a rally for the 54" vote that is fast approaching on April 13th. The rally will be held at the Green Bay Yacht Club. Cost will be $10.00 Your ten will get you free tap beer. There will be guest speakers to be announced shortly. We will also have a raffle that all the proceeds will go to the natural reproduction study that the DNR will be conducting the next two years. Any money left over from beer and food sales will also go to this cause. The rally is being put on by the Green Bay Musky Coalition This will be a great opportunity to talk about the issues facing us and just a great way to get together with friends and talk about Muskies. More details will be coming. Right now we are not requiring tickets. Let us know if you can make it. If you want to make a donation to the raffle or want more info you can contact me at [email protected] Jay Zahn Titletown Muskies Inc.

Posts: 1270 | I'm all for the 54" size limit on the Bay but am getting sick of having t vote for it every year. If it passes this year will it finally be law or will we still be voting for this in years to come? Jay, I will be sending you an Email about some goodies for you raffle.

If it passes then it will most likely become law. Nothing is certain as it is still an advisory question. But if it passes, we will have 3 yrs of votes in favor of this and that should account for a lot. If it gets shot down after passing this April, I for one would be very very disappointed. I see no reason for the WDNR to oppose this, especially after we can no longer harvest eggs from those fish in the lower Fox. We have already missed two year classes because of VHSv and will likely see a drop in fish 10 to 15 years down the road because of this. On Saturday, I did hear that the WDNR found 2 young of the year last fall on the Fox River. But we need to turn out in major numbers to support this to assure that the WDNR and Natural Resources Board hears us - loud and clear.

Posts: 409 Location: Almond, WI | I hadn't heard of YOY in the Fox, but had heard of YOY in the Menominee River found last fall. http://www.postcrescent.com/article/20090111/APC0204/901110628/1892... Heartening news at least. Hopefully the DNR finally responds after years of trying and install a size limit in keeping with the system's potential.

Posts: 714 Location: Rhinelander, WI | This is Politics not reality, we need to show up and vote as many times as it takes. And take a look at the following link and think to the future not everything in these meeting minutes will be voted on this year, but we need to be prepared to help when the call is put out there. http://dnr.wi.gov/fish/musky/MuskyStandingTeamNotes8_21_08.pdf Nail A Pig! I'am writing in to see if we can get this message back to page one, so more people can see this message. We have to do everything and anything to try and get this passed. There is far to many 50'' to 54'' muskies being taken out of this system every year. When i started musky fishing a 48'' was a trophy, then a 50'' was. Now its 55''. So if we all act together and go to this rally and then vote, your dreams of catching a 55' ' fisk will increase. Just think in a few years from now, the fish of a lifetime will increase to 56'' or maybe 57''.

Posts: 1185 Location: Wishin I Was Fishin' | I'll be there and hope to bring some of the C & R Musky Club guys. Our club will be donating a St. Croix Premier Rod, Diawa Sealine 27 Line Counter and Frabill power catch net for the raffles, maybe a few other things too. Let's raise money for David's study! Dennis's band is a great idea. I've always wanted to check them out.

Great thread. I'll support the cause. What lakes are they going to use in central WI to stock the 1,200 fish from Georgian bay? This is a great idea. I'm glad they are sticking with great lake fish and not mixing inland strain fish.

Posts: 999 | The lakes they are stocking allready have a population of inland strain fish.

Posts: 113 Location: Green Bay, WI | That is true they do have a population of inland strain fish. The Georgian Bay fish will have pit tags in them and when they get to maturity the DNR will be able to scan the fish to make sure they are getting the proper fish. Its a great plan now all we have to do is get these fish here to Wisconsin. Who's coming next weekend. Its going to be a great time and as you can see we will be having a great raffle and should be treated to a great show by Standing Room Only. If you can't make it make sure you get out to vote on April 13th. The 54 on Green Bay and the Muskie questions in the North need our votes. Jay Zahn

Jay, just wondering if the muskie tug is going to be raffled off.

Posts: 113 Location: Green Bay, WI | No. Unfortunately the tug was sold at the end of the year. It would have made a great raffle prize.
