Hey guys, just finished renovating my partners jon boat and thought Id share some pictures, I apologize for the quality, they were taken with a cell phone. I thought it turned out pretty good considering I did it for less than 100 bucks (got very lucky by having most of the materials laying around). Everything on the boat is aluminum, including the decks, 2" angle bracing, and hinges.

We riveted the decks to the hinges and theyre as sturdy as any other boat out there. The bracing is bolted together with countersunk bolts so as not to interfere with the decks laying on top. I made it to where we wouldnt lose any storage space being as it didnt have much to begin with, hence everything opening up. We just used small dead bolts for latches. The 3 drains keep water from building up in the floor and will flow to the back. I still have to install a bilge pump in the rear and carpet under the decks to cut noise.

This boat will be used mainly on the rivers and creeks around here, and some area's of Buckhorn lake and Cave Run. Has a 6hp evinrude that pushes this little boat pretty good! Now I just have to wrestle it back out the basement door lol.

Real Nice, I've been thinking of doing my jon boat too. Can you get some better pics of it?

Thanks,

That's really nice. I just paid over 600.00 to have a small aluminium deck put on my Lowe jon boat. You really saved your buddy some money !

Nice!! It's like you turned a 2,000 boat into a 20,000 boat. Simple and functional, i like it!
