I need to buy a new rod and want one that will help me cast the double Cow Girls? Am I correct in assuming it should be at least 8 feet, have a strong butt section, and a flexible tip?
What do people recommend for brands and lengths?

I'd go with St. Croix, PM80HF ($180) or TM86HF ($340) You want the tip to be stiff enough to pull the bucktail through the figure 8.

St Croix....either heavy (Premier or Legend) would be my choice but I like them built to 9 feet.

Cannot go wrong with St Croix.

Go with a Okuma 8'6" XH. Soft tip and great backbone. Many guys say it casts dbl 10's great! A lifetime warranty and about $120 bucks. Breaks down to about 7 ft for storage also. I will be getting one in the next few weeks!

I'm sure muskie! nut will chime in soon on this one.
