| This might get long. LOL First of all I had a really good feeling this morning and told my wife as I was leaving that I would catch 6 fish with 4 good ones. She laughed as I was going out the door but I was laughing once I got to my spot. I always stop the boat away from the actual spot and as I made my first cast in open water I felt like I was going through weeds but no weeds in 10' open water there so I set the hook and nothing so I keep reeling and still felt like I was going through weeds so I set the hooks again but still nothing. Then when my lure was 10' from the boat I see my line going to the right LOL I got a frigging fish on so I set the hooks a third time but still nothing so I tought I had a hammerhandle on as I never felt a headshake or nothing. Then when my lure gets to the boat all I see are huge lamprey marks and those are normaly on rather large fish ( well over 45 ) but this thing was around 40 inches. I managed to kill both lampreys of her back before she got away. This fish never faught, she was waiting for the net but I would rather kill the lampreys first as they normaly fall off in the net. I did catch a small one 15 minutes later and 2 more within 1 hour and 20 mins of the first one. Then I went and washed lures for some 4 hours to come back to spot 1 and catch another good one and miss one. I did get a decent follow and lost one when I was washing lures. Man did I ever think of JLong when I lost the first one. So I got 5 and lost the 6th that I had predicted 4 of them were over 40 so I hope I get that feeling when it counts. Too bad this was not a muskiefirst outing but I did have my shirt on...... hmmmmm this maybe my lucky shirt guess we will see on the 28th. I managed 91 points in 6 hours of fishing alone, so no picks as no one was on the water, well no fishermen anyways. [:p] As anyone ever caught a fish without ever feeling it? This was not a small fish and it never faught at all. Maybe it was to beat up from spawning but still funny that I never felt anything on all 3 of my hooksets. [:sun:] | |||

| I did that with a smallish (18"-20") pike once. Thought I was hung up on weeds and kept trying to jerk my bait loose. Poor thing. I think it made it fine, though. Just has an extra (and somewhat long) nostril now. So now I always just bring the retrieve in normally after I set the hook on some weeds. | |||

| Oh, and I sense bad, bad luck for the end of the month. Moon phase is gonna be all out of whack, just a tough gig in general for any fishing north of the border.[] | |||

| I caught a low 40 inch fish on a figure eight once that I never fealt bite. I was using one of those Strike King muskie spinner baits and they have a trailer hook that sticks way back on the lure with a red skirt on it. The fish followed the lure to the boat and I said to myself "Man, that thing is CLOSE to the lure!" I kept doing the figure eight and the fish disappeared and then came back. This time it was right on the lure again and I noticed that I couldn't see the red skirt so I jerked straight up and the fight was on! The fish had taken the trailer in and was swimming with me as I pulled the lure on the figure 8. Never fealt the fish at all. | |||

| The biggest fish I ever caught (43.5 inches around 25 lbs) I did not feel. I was reeling in a rattle trap as fast as possible and when I got it to the dock getting ready for the figure 8 I saw it coming right towards me. Maybe it didn't know it was hooked? It really fought after I got it to the dock. Another time I was fishing near weeds and I thought I had some and as I always do with weeds I set the hook and I kept reeling then I felt a headshake and saw it surface. It was a little 30 incher and part soft plastic lure so that is probobly why it felt like weeds. | |||
