I know it's been said and sain again, but believe me when I say you want to have knipex bolt cutters. Because you might need to release yourself sometime!!!

I wish I would have had them when I got stuck in the leg. I had to step on the pike to stop it from thrashing. Many stitches! Had a cheap pair then..... NOT GOOD! Ordered a pair of knipex cutters later that week!

Take a look at your right index finger.

Now..picture a 3/0 hook start in right at the last knuckle before your finger nail. without a blink have it cut and scrape along the finger nail under the skin, then finally dig into the finger nail and cut it in half all the while still moving toward the end of the fingernail. After splitting the nail in half, finally impale itself at the tip of the finger, luckily pushing the barb all the way through. Now...picture a 43" muskie on the last hook of the bait still attatched, but luckily not moving...

Knipex bolt cutters that your wife used to cut the hook that attached you to the bait and to the fish...PRICELESS!!

See the fish swim away after finishing the job of unhooking while still bleeding profusely and luckily no sharks are freshwater and in lake of the woods... also priceless.

My finger on the other hand...was not too happy with my stupidity for a while. I leave one hook on the front of the bait uncut...and murphy decided to punish me for that one...
