Posts: 1270 | I think you need a "sometimes" choice even though I always wear one.

Posts: 431 | Probably wouldn't be typing this today if I hadn't been sharing a lap belt with another kid when I was 12 or so. We had finished a couple day float trip down the Missouri river and were driving back home. My seatbelt didn't work and my dad made me share the seatbelt with another kid because it was rainy out. Head on collision going around a turn. So now I get a really weird feeling if I'm ever in a car without a seat belt. I also insist that everybody riding with me puts on the belt.

Posts: 572 | I'm not sure why anyone would ask this question. Of course, I like to think others will wear their seat belts wether they are towing or toying their boats. But, the real concern to me is whether the others checked their trailer connection, balls, lights, etc. Sorry, but I couldn't include my answer to a question. I just don't get it. Do I care if others are wearing seat belts....no, not really... (oh, I do)... but, I do care if they do not check their trailers for proper connections, lights, etc. I wonder why someone would ask this question?????

Posts: 1080 | Life's too short and precious to not be wearing a seatbelt at anytime. Just as an unconscious task, kind of like breathing....my seatbelt is always on before the vehicle is even started. It's a no brainer. Way too many people on the roads these days...more than ever...and a large percentage of the people on the roads these days don't have a clue how to drive in the first place. Then throw in there the fact of all the gizmos and gadgets and pieces of technology that distract drivers from their one and only task, which is driving, such as cell phones, texting, iPods, GPS, yada, yada, yada, yada... Regardless of whether or not I'm towing a boat...I'm buckled up. I feel "nekkid" if I don't...

Posts: 8781 | I learned to wear a seatbelt in the 3 seconds between when my friend spun out in his Camaro, and when my head broke the windshield and my knees broke the dashboard when we slammed into a tree. He was lucky -- he had a nice soft steering wheel to smash into, so he didn't hit the windshield nearly as hard as I did. Considering what I see out there on the road, and the amount of deer in the areas we fish? I couldn;t imagine anyone NOT wearing a seat belt.

Posts: 20218 Location: oswego, il | It's a law in Fib land too. Been that way for awhile. As mush driving as I do at work the odds suggest an accident at some point. Why take chances.

Growing up my parents never had us buckle in. When I joined the service it was mandatory. Now I feel naked without it. Sobering statistic is that you are more likely to be in an accident where you are injured or killed within 10 minutes of your own home than anywhere else. Seat belts are not only for when you take a long trip or get on an interstate.

Posts: 298 Location: Not where I want to be! | Ofcourse I wear one. I can't beleive you would ask anyone a question like that!! Furthermore , what's the difference if you are towing or not? If you don't you are lacking the basic instinct to survive. What about you loved ones?

Posts: 135 Location: Irvine, KY | I used to race my dad as a child to see who could get theirs on first. Looking back dad was pretty smart to make it a competition and "trick" me into wearing it lol... it worked. I still put it on first thing out of habit today, and I make anyone ridding with me wear one too. Its also a law in KY. That being said, I do have a friend who the EMS said the only reason he lived was because he was NOT wearing a seatbelt because when his Explorer rolled over the inertia threw his head away from the pavement and into the passengers seat... Ill still risk that small chance and wear mine.

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | I always wear mine - pulling the boat or not. One of my best buddies is a fireman but also goes on medical ambulance calls. He says to WEAR YOUR SEATBELT. He's seen what happens when people don't wear seatbelts, and we'll leave it at that. curleytail
