Location: Grand Rapids, MI | My father in law lives in Wilmington, and I'm thinking about taking the wife and kids down for a visit. Can anyone tell me if there are any muskie lakes close by there? He's got a boat for me to use. He lives on the ocean. He's also got another boat he keeps in the ocean. Should I blow off the muskies and go for the barraccuda and sharks instead? |

| You are about 350 miles to far east. You need to be western North Carolina (close to Asheville, NC) to find muskies. Unless you want to drive 7 hrs from Wilmington, go for the salt water. Let me know if you need more info.

Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | Man, Go for the Sharks and Barracudda first..... That is truly a rush comparied to musky fishing.
Go for it, and have a blast.... Don't forget to take the kids if possible.

Having caught both my advice would be... MOST DEFINITELY!!! Cudas and sharks have squat on muskies. Your kids will be hooked for life (if they're not already) if you can get them connected with a cuda or shark. I personally guarantee it. 
Would you be hiring a guide or trying yourself? |

| You might want to look into night fishing big cats on the Cape Fear river in Wilmington. There are a few guides who do it part time if you schedule a week or so ahead. Both bait shops should have the guides' names and #'s handy. |

Probably just by myself. My father in law knows where there are a few spots. He takes his buddies out for 'cudas and whatever else is swimming out there. |

| Hey, go with your father-in-law.....regardless of the fishing..... Your father-in-law is wanting you to enjoy his life ...what he knows and enjoys. Go for it. I don't care if he catches...crap....you will win more by going for what he enjoys and thinks he can teach you.
Blow off your father-in-law and kiss your wife good bye....seriously, offer your father-in-law a chance to experience some muskie fishing.....

Location: where the fish are... | no there are no musky waters in the Wilmington NC area. I moved there about a year and a half ago and was there for 7 months. NO MUSKY LAKES!!!!!!!!! trust me my gear sat in the garage for 7 months and the only time i got to musky fish was when i came back to IL for a visit. There are some great i mean great large mouth ponds north of wilmington but are very private. PM if your looking for some stuff to do in that area. I will be down there for a week in may relaxing at my parents place in Hampstead about 15 min north of wilmington. Cool area and if you can get out saltwater fishing look up someone to put you on dophin and king. you'll find some smaller sharks while trolling but they are a ton of fun. |

Location: N.FIB | any muskie lakes around rock hill area,my uncle told me that there were some lakes with muskie around NC,but didn`t get a chance to fish last spring since I was down that way for my aunts funeral.I was just wondering incase I make it down that way again in the colder months,but fishing for stripers like he does sounds like fun too. |

| if you're talking rock hill s.c., the answer is no.
the closest muskies around will be around asheville n.c..
the french broad river, the pigeon river, the holston river, fontana lake and few other waters have them.
i live in the n.w. section of n.c., and have the new river very close to me.
this is my only muskie waters within an easy drive(45 minutes) and the smallie and walleye bite is pretty awesome as well
smallmouth and spots can be found in the yadkin river below the house(10 minutes).
if you're around wilmington, just hit the salt...there's almost always something biting in the big water.
